Season 2025
Season 2025 was a terrific year for the Tigers with all teams playing highly competitive football and representing the black and gold with distinction. The Seniors successfully defended their premiership to go “Back to Back” highlighting the dedicated hard yakka of the Coaches, Players and Support Staff. Along with the Seniors, our Reserves and Thirds all qualified for finals showing the depth of talent and commitment the club has at the moment. Along with our teams’ success, the season saw the achievement of some very significant milestones for these long standing and beloved Tigers:
Murray Laing completed 10 years of Coaching the Thirds Team
John Laing completed 11 years of Managing the Thirds Team
Danny Evans played 150 games for the Reserves
Scott Forrester played 100 games for the Reserves
The season also saw a change to our ANZAC day commemoration, with the Tigers reestablishing ties with traditional rival Sandgate AFC to contest the Mayne / Sandgate Trophy. Along with the trophy the game also introduced a new best on ground award named the Meakin/Stackpoole Medal, in honour of club greats from both Mayne and Sandgate. The game was hosted by Sandgate this year with the medal being awarded to Jack Collings.
Reunion Day was again a great success with the event very well attended. Our rivals on the day were again Sandgate AFC with the Mick Nolan Medal for the Best on Ground being awarded to Ryan Doolan. The club also welcomed back Players from the 2015 Premiership teams for their 10 year reunion, in a strange coincidence the 2015 premierships were also “Back to Back”! We also welcomed the 1975 Mayne Reserve Grade Premiership team and the Banyo Bloods Premiership team.
