It was only three years ago that Andy Tydink played his 100th game for the Mayne Reserves and within the blink of an eye and a very consistent set of games he reaches the lofty heights of 150 games this weekend at just 28 years of age.
A quiet and unassuming young man, he has always let his actions tell the story and what a story it has been since he debuted in the senior ranks back in 2017. He has been part of a group that has played in finals every year since his debut including six grand finals and four premierships in a remarkable period.
Andy has been one of the rocks that has held the Tigers defence solid over this period with his courage, composure and elite spoiling and marking being key features.
He has played with some extremely well credentialled players over the years which has kept the spotlight from him to some extent, but he was rewarded in 2025 with the Graham Walters Best and Fairest and the Peter Ives Player’s Player award for a perfect season where he once again led the men’s department to perfection. He has always been high up in the voting but was deservedly rewarded last year.
He is a very popular Tiger both on and off the field with his broad smile ever present and his trade mark phrase, Go Tiges always at the ready.
He is now a mentor to a new group of young Tigers who can all do well to take his lead.
The Mayne Tigers wish Andy all the very best for his 150th game this weekend and look forward to seeing him play many more.
