The Mayne Football Club would like to wish all of its members, players, family, friends and supporters a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2026. We also hope for a safe and enjoyable period for everyone.
As we wrap up another year, we give thanks to all of our dedicated people who pulled on a jersey or performed a formal or informal role for the club in our first year of the second century of the Tigers.
It has incredibly been another successful year with the Seniors going all the way while the Reserves and Thirds made the finals as well.
Along with our teams’ success, the season saw the achievement of some very significant milestones for these long standing and beloved Tigers:
Murray Laing completed 10 years of Coaching the Thirds Team
John Laing completed 11 years of Managing the Thirds Team
Danny Evans played 150 games for the Reserves
Scott Forrester played 100 games for the Reserves
The season also saw a change to our ANZAC day commemoration, with the Tigers reestablishing ties with traditional rival Sandgate AFC to contest the Mayne / Sandgate Anzac Day Trophy. Along with the trophy the game also introduced a new best on ground award named the Meakin/Stackpoole Medal, in honour of club greats from both Mayne and Sandgate.
The game was hosted by Sandgate this year with the medal being awarded to Jack Collings.
Reunion Day was again a great success with the event very well attended. Our rivals on the day were again Sandgate AFC with the Mick Nolan Medal for the Best on Ground being awarded to Ryan Doolan. The club also welcomed back Players from the 2015 Premiership teams for their 10 year reunion, in a strange coincidence the 2015 premierships were also “Back to Back”! We also welcomed the 1975 Mayne Reserve Grade Premiership team and the Banyo Bloods Premiership team.
The year wrapped up with a full house at Presentation Night with Zac Quin taking out the Best and Fairest for the second time.
Training has been on again in earnest since the 2nd December with a very strong field of players sweating it out in preparation for another big year. It is pleasing to see a number of new young recruits joining the training sessions including some handy looking Everton Wolves.
Pre–Season re-commences for all teams on Tuesday 13th January 2026 at 6pm at the Mott Street Den with sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
