Pre-Season 2023 is well underway

Training for the Tigers recommenced on the 11th January with great numbers for all grades in ideal conditions under the guidance of Science of Fitness Strength and Conditioning Coach Sam Mulherin.

The training regime has seen the playing group sweating it out with a range of work including running, strengthening exercises, skills and strategy. The Science of Fitness staff including Physio Sami Howell have also been measuring improvement and overseeing individual programmes at their South Brisbane Practice as a key part of the new 2023 regime.

The Pre-Season will run through to March in preparation for two pre-season games for the Division 1 group when they play Sherwood on the 4th March and Springwood on the 11th March.

Tigers Coach Josh Duffy has been very pleased with the commitment of the group to the new season with the Seniors and Reserves group averaging in the high 40’s for every session despite the early start to the year and various key players returning from holidays.

The Women’s team is off to their best start for the commencement of their third season with very good numbers on the track and the enjoyment level at an all time high. The girls have undertaken some great recruiting over the off season which is paying off already. New Coaches Seb Shaw and Nick Galvin report the girls are working hard doing all the strength and conditioning work with the men while their skillwork is of a high standard. They are still looking for more recruits with enquiries at president@maynetigers.com.au

The Women’s team will hold their first Practice Match on the 25th March 2023 against Alexandra Hills at Alexandra Hills at 4.45pm

The Thirds are out of the blocks early starting with the main group this year and the training is buzzing under the leadership of Coach Murray Laing once again. The Friday night space continues to grow with more teams looking to field teams across South East Queensland. AFL Queensland is surveying clubs to best manage this growth and to come up with practical solutions to travel while remaining as fair competitions.
