The Mayne Tigers would like to acknowledge the passing of Life Member, Hall of Famer, and Premiership player John “Jack” Hill.
John passed away yesterday in palliative care in Hobart after a lengthy illness.
John arrived at the Tigers from southern Tasmania in the 1960’s as a left footed onballer, who was a prolific ball getter playing 114 tenacious A grade games culminating in two premierships in 1966 and 1967 under Coach Mike Darby.
He also captain coached the Reserves in 1971/72, fondly known as Hilly’s Heroes before serving on the senior committee for many years, some of which as Vice-President.
He was also involved with team selection over the years and especially for the 1973 premiership team.
He was a devoted and much loved Tiger who will be missed by many friends.
The Mayne Tigers extend their sincere condolences to John’s Family as well as his many friends.
