Zac Quin - 100 of the best

The Tigers excitement machine Zac Quin will make his 100th senior appearance for the club this Saturday at the Den when he runs out against the Moreton Bay Lions.

A former Mayne Junior, Quinny has been all action since he debuted back in 2019. While he played 12 senior games in his first season, he miraculously qualified for the Reserves finals series to make a critical difference to the result claiming the best on ground in the grand final where the Tigers stunned a star studded Noosa outfit to win a very unexpected premiership. He took out the Best in Finals for the Tigers that year as well as being awarded the prestigious Everton Award for the Most Promising Local player and Rising Star.

He played in the seniors losing grand final against Noosa in 2020 and once again took out the Best in Finals for the Seniors.

He has been a first pick ever since dominating the polling every year in the race for the Keith Beavis Club Champion Trophy although he has been unlucky with injuries for key periods which has limited the ultimate result as well as delaying this milestone. Once again it proves how much effort and dedication goes into accumulating this many games.

He is a dual winner of the Club Champion Award in 2021 and 2025 as well as taking out the Andrew Housego Runner Up Best and Fairest in 2022 and 2023.

While he has been a dominant force in the midfield, a variation of role playing as part of the Tigers three pronged attack with Zac McLean and Ryan Doolan, he has accumulated 250 goals to date. He won the League Leading Goal Kicker in 2024 with 81 goals while also being runner up in the Duncanson Medal for League Best and Fairest in an extraordinary performance.

The effort in 2024 helped to take the Tigers all the way to winning the Premiership in the club’s centenary year and he reprised the job in 2025 for his second senior premiership.

He has been a Tiger through and through since first joining the club as an Auskicker and continues to be one of the first to volunteer to help the littlest Tiger Cubs each year. Quinny is part of a great family effort with his brother Louis also a key player in the seniors while his parents have been active volunteers for the junior and senior club all along their journey.

Quinny is a complete gentleman at all times and one of the most loved and respected of the senior group as he sets an impressive example with his on and off field actions.

The Tigers congratulate Zac on his 100th game and look forward to seeing him run out for many more.

The following comments have been provided by Quinny’s team mates and coaches in recognition of his standing in the group.

Arguably the most talented player to pull on the Tiger jersey in recent years. Whilst he has a casual, laid back style, he is super competitive and someone you want to play with every week. Love watching him spin out packs and kick goals over his shoulder for fun, then go into the midfield and chisel kicks into the forward 50. Could easily play at state league level but is dedicated to bringing success to Mayne. Congrats on 100 great games Quinny!

One of the most naturally gifted players you would see. Whether he’s playing through the midfield or inside forward 50, he’s a genuine match-winner with the speed, strength, marking ability and skill to hurt the opposition in so many different ways.

A pretty relaxed operator when it comes to footy, but don’t let that fool you—every coach in the competition would love to have him in their side, and I’m certainly glad he’s in ours.

The best players stand up when it matters most, and Zac has that he’s capable of taking a game by the scruff of the neck and getting the team over the line in the biggest moments. Congratulations on 100 games, Quinny. Stop going on holidays during the footy season!

Congratulations to Zac on reaching 100 senior games for the Mayne Tigers. From my perspective as a coach, what stands out most is not just the talent and achievements, but the consistency, professionalism, and competitiveness he brings every week. Zac sets standards with the way he plays, and he has been a huge part of the success this club has enjoyed over the past several years. To win multiple Best and Fairests, lead the goal kicking and perform at such a high level despite battling injuries says a lot about his character. More importantly, he's a great teammate and someone younger players can look up to. Reaching 100 games is a fantastic achievement and I'm sure there are many more to come. Congratulations Quinny

What can you say about Quinny... What an absolute gun!! The most freakishly talented player I have played with. Goals, marks, clearances, left foot, right foot, pure speed. He can even tackle (occasionally, when he feels like it). Genuinely the complete package. But for me I think his mental and physical toughness gets overlooked a lot - he invariably lifts when the team needs it and he never takes his eye off the ball and never loses a contest. Off field, he's a great character around the club and always brings the fun to training / reviews / club events. Lucky to play with him for the last 7 years and become great mates during that time!

Congrats on a great milestone Quinny!! You've packed a lot in to the first 100 and I'm looking forward to watching the next 100!!

I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that Quinny is the most talented footballer I have ever played with. His ability to almost automatically win any contested ball and then just run away with it and kick a goal is amazing. Having played with him for a bit in the juniors when he was about half the size of everyone else, I was pretty shocked when he came up to senior footy and basically started blowing the league up immediately. Turns out he'd kept all the silky skills and movement from his junior days - but now had the strength to shrug off defenders and dominate in the air as well. I'd be surprised that he hadn't chased a payday off somewhere else if I wasn't certain that Zach is a true black-and-gold-blooded Mayne Tiger. I hope he's got many more in the tank for us.I'd wish him good luck for game 100, but I don't think there is much point - the bloke never has a bad game. On that note, I'm just glad that I don't have to play on him.

Congratulations Quinny on this milestone. You are one of the most entertaining and talented footballers I have ever entered the field with, and it is an honour to run out alongside you every Saturday. The accolades you have to your name and the achievements you have in the 100 games are evidence of the hard work and hours you have put in which make you the player you are. A truly talented competitor, leader at the club, wonderful teammate, and great friend, I am extremely excited to be part of this major milestone in your footy career. Congrats mate and kick a bag on Saturday!

Massive congratulations to Zac on reaching 100 senior games. It’s been a privilege to play alongside him from the juniors through to senior footy, and to witness some of the incredible things he can do on the field. His record speaks for itself. As impressive as he is on the field, I’ve valued even more having him as a great mate off it. The banter and chaos he brings make every season more enjoyable, and there’s rarely a dull moment when Quinny’s around. It’s been an honour to be part of this journey with him, and I’m thrilled to see him achieve this milestone.

Quinny is up there as one of the best footy players I’ve ever played with. His skills with the footy, athleticism and competitive drive has always been impressive to watch.

He's got a knack for finding the big sticks and he might put a defensive run down tackle on if your inside forward fifty.

You’d hate to line up on him.

Outside of the footy accolades Quinny is a genuine ripper bloke, even though some of his off field chat still needs work.

Looking back on it I can say I’ve been lucky enough to share my footy at Mayne with Zaccy Quin.

Well done mate

Very proud of Zach celebrating his 100th game this week. It has been a pleasure running out with my big brother over the last 6 seasons. He has contributed so much to the club and its success since starting in 2019. Apart from his obvious talent on the field, he’s a leader at the club. Steps up when it matters and lifts the energy of the team - whether that’s during the preseason, training, game day, or off the field. One highlight of playing with Zach was calling Dad mid-2024 while I was overseas to ask how he played, only to hear he’d kicked a casual 15 goals (and 8 behinds). Absolute piss take, but that pretty much sums up the footy Zach has been playing over the last few seasons. A very well deserved milestone and I look forward to all the future success Zach brings to the club. Go Tiges!

Louis Quin

Been lucky enough to watch Quinny play since he came to the club and from his first game it was clear that he had an unbelievable amount of talent. Always enjoy being able to watch the things he is able to do on the field and hope to see him get to that level of off field performance in the future. Congrats Quinny on the milestone and looking forward to more in the future.

Quinny! What can I say! One of the most unique players I’ve ever played with. Can play in any position but I think you’ve found your calling down forward, defense wasn’t your thing. Loved playing with you over the years and can’t wait for many more games to come! Keep taking the game on it’s exciting to watch!

Jack Coghlan

THE BEST FOOTBALL PLAYER I HAVE EVER PLAYED WITH OR AGAINST.

That’s a sentence I’m very comfortable saying, and one I tell anyone who listens.

Quick, agile, skilful, balanced…freakish.

100 games of Zac Quin has been nothing but incredible - a player who can light the ground on fire up forward or in the guts.

A truly loyal Tiger, and an all-round good person and bloke (minus his hit-and-miss one-liners).

I’m honoured to have played with and (assistant) coached you over your career, so far; and can’t wait to see how your playing resumé inevitably stacks up over the remainder of the journey!

We are witnessing greatness.

Eat ‘em alive Mr Quin!

Xavier Craven

Quinny! Congratulations on 100 games mate. You're an absolute freak on the footy field no matter where you play. Love your work off field/in the rooms too!

James Stolz

Congratulations Quinny on 100 of the best games you will see! The most naturally talented bloke I’ve ever played with and a genuine pleasure to play alongside. Has won all the awards and accolades under the sun and will win plenty more by the time he’s done. The Tigers are never out of it if Quinny is on the field! Good luck on Saturday mate, I’ll be running past for the hands.
